Secondly, i added some information that dealt with his overall stature and player info about him. Thirdly i added that he went on the DL, and that he is expected to come off the DL this friday to play against the Braves.

Chelsea- Recently I added that during the 2007 season, Didier Drogba led Chelsea and the FA premier league with 33 goals this season. Final Wiki Edits

Ryan Howard- I updated Howard's wiki article under the subtitle of 2007. I just added some recent news that he will be coming off of the DL this Friday to play against the Atlanta braves. In the mean time he will be serving a rehab assignment for Lakewood-A on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

Chelsea FC- I added a small bit to the Records section that said that Chelsea's Ivory Coast native striker Didier Drogba led the premiership this year with 33 goals.

Tiger Woods- I updated, other ventures, in the Tiger Woods wiki article. More specifically I added information on the Tiger Wood's Jam X that is to take place May 26, 2007. Jon Bon Jovi will be headlining the concert and special guest Daughtry will kick off the night.

Barry Bonds- For the Bonds wiki article I simply just took the liberty to add to the salary part of his article. I just added that he had signed for a one year deal that would pay him 18.5 million dollars a year. This would also help him continue to chase the all-time home run record.

Alex Nasseh's blog

It looks as if Alex has completed his required posts also for BUAD 477. His template looks good and his wiki updates are interesting. I was reading one of his recent posts and he was talking about a blog post that dealt with the new privacy issues that are arising with google. I found it very interesting to know that google would like to track people's searches on the internet. But to check out his blog, click here

Steve's blog

I just wanted to comment one more time on Steve's blog. You can tell he has really been interested in creating his blog and posting on it. A lot of his posts hold some valuable information within them. I like how he wrapped up the semester with a final blog on Curlin, the preakness winner. Sounds like you had a blast yesterday dude..click here to check his blog out

Bosch's blog

I just wanted to comment on Jen's blog and say how interesting she has really made her template and the content on her blogpage. I just wanted to say that her post about ipods disrupting pacemakers was very interesting. I'd like to hear some follow up on research done to find out why that is. To check it out click here

Nintendo Wii vs XBOX 360

In this Scobleizer blog post, Mr. Scoble talks about how he traditionally has been an Xbox fan above and beyond everything else. Except he just got his hands on a nintendo wii and found it to be a lot more interactive with a ton of games that are offered. He also goes on to say that after you get started playing a wii, it is so interactive that you forget that the graphics are not as great as a 360 or playstation 3. Halo 2, the most played video game in the past 5 years is coming out with a sequel Halo3 later this summer and it apparently is not getting the reviews it hoped for. I know my roomate has the regular Xbox and my close friends and I could not stop playing Halo2 for almost a year and a half. The live version of Halo is one of the most addicting games I have ever come across, since i had regular nintendo when i was a little kid. Scoble also goes on to talk about how Microsoft could of done a lot more work when designing the new controller's for the 360. I tend to agree and disagree at the same time. The new 360 controllers are much more convenient than the old xbox controller's because they are wireless. On the other hand, the wii controller's are phenomenal compared to anything else because they create the whole atmosphere for gameplay. The nintendo Wii gets you up off the couch and moving around whether its swinging a bat in a baseball game, or its throwing a backhand in their interactive tennis game. To me, I believe that nintendo Wii is one step ahead of the competition with its interactive controller, and I think microsoft and sony should be worried. Vanity Search

Well, after finally doing a vanity search on myself on google, I found out that there is a famous band called the Tim Harrington band that dominates the search results. I looked in to see what kind of band and music it is that they played and was astonished to find out that this man that also has my name is either crazy or just realllly weird. Of the 14,000,000 search results i also found out that there is a Tim Harrington who resigned as the CEO of a company called FOGDOG. Another guy was an animator for a bunch of different movies, and the list goes on and on. But as for my blog, it must be at the bottom of the totem pole because i've been looking through the search results and still have yet to find it. The good thing is that none of the search results seem to be negative, which is something i can be happy about. But other than that, my blog is way at the bottom of the list when it comes to the search.

Ryan Dzielak and the Longhorns

I have been checking out my good friend Ryan Dzielak's blog throughout the semester and wanted to comment on his blogpage and how he is doing on the project. I first off just wanted to say that although he is a good friend of mine, I just don't see why he likes the Longhorns so much. Kevin Durant, come on now, the guy is a joke. Vince Young...ouch it almost hurts to say that guys name. Haha, but on a more serious note, I liked how he was searching on espn.com and found the Barbaro article that praised Professor Brown for his extensive and valuable work pertaining to online marketing. The article listed many successful accomplishments that he has achieved and gives us as students pride to be learning from such an accomplished individual. I just wanted to say that it was cool that Ryan found the article before class. Thanks dude. To check out his blog, click here

Bonds wiki edit # 2

In this Bond's wiki edit, I took the initiative in adding a few important details to his early life as a child. He father Bobby Bonds, and godfather Willie Mays played a very important role in keeping him grounded and focused on becoming the best athlete that he could be, especially at baseball. This allowed him to become a phenomenal athlete in all sports in high school and eventually led to the success that he is reaping today. To check out my update, click on this link, Barry's early life..

Microsoft switchboard vs. Google switchboard

Robert Scoble compares and contrasts the switchboards of Microsoft and Google in this post. He goes on to talk about how Microsoft has a very unique voice-controlled system that directs customers in the direction of the person they are trying to talk to. The way it works is you dial Microsoft's number. Supposedly, an electronic voice then answers and asks the caller whom they are trying to get in touch with. The caller then responds with the person's name, "Tim Harrington" for example, and a voice recording of Tim Harrington would come back so the customer calling would know exactly where they were in during there call.

The caller must then respond to a question that may be ask if they are looking for the right person and the customer must reply with a "yes" or a "no". If the voice controlled-system has any doubt of who the caller is trying to reach it will prompt them with a number of other question's related to the person that they are trying to reach. On the other hand, with Google's phone answering service, the customer call is immediately asked what the extension number is they are looking for. If the customer does not know the extension of the person they are trying to reach then they are to press 8, and then they are to begin to dial the numbers of the letter's of that person's first and last name. Without even making sure the caller is going in the right direction, Google's switchboard takes you to someone you had no intention of getting in touch with. To me, it sounds like a big pain in the ass to actually get in touch with the affiliate you need to talk to. So to sum everything up, Microsoft's switchboard is way ahead of the game with their voice-controlled system. The opportunities that a system like this could have seem endless. For my first wiki edit pertaining to Ryan Howard, I just added his 2007 big league profile on his age, how long he has been in the big league, his height, and his weight. Next time i will delve a little further into his proactive or not so proactive involvement in the Phillies lineup for the 07 season. To check out this update, just click on this link, Ryan Howard..

Hybrid Cars vs. Intelligent Cars

While reading through the different posts and articles on slashdot I came across a post that dealt with Hybrid Cars vs. Intelligent Cars. More specifically about how certain cars save more energy than others. Supposedly they are classifying an intelligent car as a car that uses some kind of sensor to detect traffic, in order for the car to brake, which will ultimately save more fossil fuels. When the hybrid car was brought into the world, it could sense backed up traffic or a red light up to sixty seconds that it took for the car to get there, so that it could shut off its jets. Now with this newly manufactured car known as the Intelligent car, one can save up to 33 percent more on gas because the new sensors can see almost 180 seconds ahead. This is very interesting to me because it seemed as if hybrid cars were going to be the wave of the future, with gas prices rising so high lately. But what do you know, someone is always coming out with something new and better..Until next time, drive slow homie

SEO by the SEA

During class that took place on April 30, we had a guest speaker by the name of Bill come in and talk to us about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Bill started a web site that goes by the title of SEO by the SEA. He named it that while working for another marketing company that was headquarted by the Chesapeake Bay. He said that the bay had reminded of the Sea, and it had a better ring to it. Although Search Engine Optimization can be interpreted in many different ways by people that deal with online advertising and marketing techniques, what i got from the presentation was that it helps either small or large companies websites show up higher than other relevant sites on different searh engines. So basically, Bill is employed to help alter or work on and utilize important parts of different companies websites that will help their web page score higher, which will have an end result of the page showing up much higher when searched for. What this does for companies is help them get more viewers of their sites. It seems to be a very strong advertising and marketing tool in this day and age of the net.
I guess because it is a term that can be interpreted in a variety of ways, than it is hard to put a final definition on it, but all in all I thought it was an interesting presentation, especially because the speaker had such little time to prepare. In case you would like to check out his website, here it is, SEO by the SEA!
